Relationships are just that – you “relate” yourself to another person, place or thing. You relate yourself to a “situation” or experience. We are constantly in relationships. Often times we look at our relationships as to what we can get out of them: a relationship with a lover may give you comfort, a relationship with a job may give you money, a relationship with a musical instrument may give you the excitement to play. This is how most people relate and people can learn from such relationships. However, wouldn’t it be better if we didn’t think of what we can get out of each relationship, but what we can give to them? For example, the lover, you can give your heart and your support, for the job you can give your creativity and finesse, with the musical instrument you can give music to a suffering world.
Life changes when you start focusing on giving. And once you start giving, it becomes an addiction – it feels so good you don’t want to stop. You find ways to give in any situation/relationship. You lose your ego during the process, but eventually, you gain the world (your soul).
