Oftentimes we break down in order to rebuild anew.  This is the perfect time of year to witness this.  Seeds break open and the plant takes root, the mother screams as the child crowns, the volcano erupts and a mountain is born.  The breaking open of the individual allows in more room for light, for growth.  The breaking open of the individual’s ego mind releases the rules and misconceptions that have held them into place (that have held them into a false sense of security).  The breaking open of the heart is where we are all headed.  The heart holds much sacred energy: ancient, fragrant, deep tribal energy.  It is represented by the beat of the drum and the pounding of dancing feet.  It calls us to the ceremonial fire and has us chant and sing:  we are alive on this great big ball of earth.  We are the rhythm of life.  Our heart beats with the pulse of the earth mother, our blood flows like the river, our breath creates the wind.  We are one with the earth, we are one with the water, we are one with the mountain and valleys: the sand beneath our feet and the rock beneath the sand.  Time stops for some but life continues on.  We will always continue on in some shape or form.  So allow the sands to shift and the waves to rumble and the volcanoes to rage on.  And let us, as a species, be born anew.
