What is the point? Loving is what we are here to learn. Extending love to your beloved is the easiest, and maybe truest, form of loving. You live for this – expressing love to the one you admire – it feeds you and makes your heart sing. Loving those who are not your beloved is the test, the hard part, the reason we are here. We come across many along our path to whom this applies: parents, family, friends, co-workers, neighbors. Then there are all those we see in the news, in our politics, even the police. These are also a test in loving kindness, hope and generosity. Then there are those who really need our love and care: the abandoned and forgotten children, animals, and even the rebellious youth. To show them love can not only change their world, but can change the future of our collective world as well. Can you practice loving those around you today: your beloved, and everyone and everything beyond them? It is a good lesson and it is what we are here for.
