Dreams are like television: sometimes there is good quality programming and sometimes it is just filler. Sometimes a dream, like a good program or movie, can give you a new perspective on things. To weed out the filler from quality dreams, keep a dream journal. The simple art of writing down the dream or telling it to someone has an effect, in and of itself (i.e. Edgar Cayce says you don’t even have to analyze it or figure it out in any way – just the process of getting it out in writing or in the telling is helpful to the body/mind/spirit). You were dreaming it as a release anyway; the extra step of writing or telling about it just continues that process. Intentional dreaming can also take place in the form of prayer, meditation and shamanic journeys. You can use these as you would psychotherapy or counseling. In shamanic journeys you are actually counseling yourself – asking yourself questions and getting answers. In prayer you seek council from a higher order. Enjoy your dreamtime and all times when your eyes are opened or closed.
