The forest, the tundra, the desert, the sea:  what diverse landscapes we have here on earth.  There are “extreme” terrains, as well as those that appear more “ideal” for living: a place with a more tempered climate; maybe some grass and hills and trees and a stream running close by.  We are given all that we need.  Human beings have lived here for millennium because here they can thrive.  It isn’t the conditions which have wiped out civilizations here on earth but it is how human beings have treated each other.  Doesn’t that sound strange to you?  Our environment is here to support us, but we can’t seem to support us?  You would never find that in any other species on this planet:  the possibility they would destroy themselves.  It is not the environment or their own kind that is a threat to other species on this planet – that falls on us too: not only are we a detriment to ourselves, other species are suffering too.  Isn’t it time to turn around the way we view our environment and our place in it?
