Water can be the most powerfully destructive element on earth; at the same time, it can be nourishing and comforting and required for life. All of our earth elements are “elemental” – earth, water, air and fire – how different and dynamic they are. Water, in mass quantities and/or with force, can wear down anything natural on this planet and if an object is man-made and supposedly “indestructible”, water can simply submerge it under her ocean. Our deserts were once our waterways and our ocean floors once saw the light of the sun. The waters move and we move. The waters move and the earth moves. And of course, sometimes the earth moves.
We are stewards of this round ship called earth, though many of us have forgotten. Some children never experience animals in their natural habitat; they walk around under the impression that the world was created for them. They may learn about animal species on TV but how can they be stewards of this earth if they can’t feel them? They need to walk barefoot on mossy rocks and dance in the rain and sing to a bird and wait for the bird’s happy reply. Only being out in the elements will one ever get an understanding that they are part of something so much larger than they; so much bigger than the human species. We are teaming with life here on planet earth. Don’t miss getting out there with the creatures to enjoy. AND if you can’t get out to frolic with the plant and animal kingdoms, please at least meditate on them, pray for them, and wish them well.
